When the world responded to the humanitarian crisis in Kosovo, and some 10,000 Kosovar refugees were given refuge in the United States, the International Institute was called upon to utilize its extensive network of interpreting and translating resources to help with the resettlement of some 800 Kosovars in the State of New Jersey.

A number of Albanian interpreters were recruited to help out, some as volunteers and others on a per diem basis.

The Institute has been providing interpreting and translation services since 1980. We are committed to providing you with experienced interpreters and translators who perform accurate, high quality, professional interpreting and translation services in 46 languages including American Sign Language.

Most of our interpreters are court certified through the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts. Non-certified interpreters are expected to demonstrate their credentials through resumes and translation samples. Currently, our "Language Bank" consists of 50 actively qualified interpreters and translators who are experienced with both legal and medical interpreting.

Although most interpreters work for a fee, the Institute does provide free interpreting services in crisis situations when requested by human service agencies or other Institute departments.
